Summary:

McNeil & Co. is seeking an experienced Territory Sales Manager to support an insurance reciprocal program for public entity education, serving K–12 public school districts and BOCES across New York state. The TSM will be responsible for driving new business growth, maintaining strong member relationships, and delivering the White Glove Service standard that the program’s members expect. This is a high-visibility role requiring proactive engagement with school leadership, insurance agents, and internal teams to meet territory growth objectives.

Essential Functions:

  1. Develop and execute a territory business plan to meet and exceed new business and retention goals.
  2. Create and maintain strong broker and agency relationships, appointing new producers as needed to expand the program’s reach.
  3. Conduct in-person visits, sales presentations, and coverage reviews with school districts, boards, and business officials.
  4. Represent the program at conventions, conferences, and educational association events (some weekends required).
  5. Provide ongoing communication to agents and insureds regarding program benefits, policy changes, and new services.
  6. Maintain deep knowledge of the program’s product offerings, including Property & Casualty, Cyber Liability, and specialized school coverages.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Travel extensively (50–75%) throughout assigned territory.
  • Collaborate closely with underwriting, risk management, and claims to address member needs quickly and effectively.
  • Proactively identify and pursue direct account opportunities, generating leads for the broker network.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present to both small and large audiences.
  • Demonstrated success in meeting production and profitability targets in a defined territory.
  • In-depth knowledge of insurance products and the education/public entity marketplace.
  • Proven ability to build trust and credibility with both brokers and insureds.

Education and Licensing:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or related field.
  • Active New York State Property & Casualty license required; Life, Accident & Health license preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of insurance industry experience in sales, marketing, or account management.
  • Experience in program business or public entity insurance strongly preferred.
  • Track record of achieving sales growth through relationship-building and strategic prospecting.

Hours: Full-time, EST
Compensation:
$70,000 – $100,000
Location: Hybrid (Cortland, NY) or Remote within New York State
