Job Title: Risk Transfer Specialist

Summary:
The Risk Transfer Specialist is responsible for assisting clients with transfer risk options through the use of insurance certificates and indemnification language. The Risk Transfer Specialist performs risk transfer services such as reviewing service contracts/agreements and insurance specifications for compliance. The Risk Transfer Specialist is also tasked with reviewing clients certificates of insurance for proper coverages and endorsements.
Essential Duties:
- Work directly with school business office and facilities staff, school attorneys, construction managers, architects and outside brokers to ensure certificates of insurance properly protect the District/BOCES.
- Guide clients through the process of risk transfer in their contracts with various entities.
- Review client’s service contracts/agreements and certificates of insurance to ensure they contain accurate information, correct terms/conditions, additional insured language and any supporting documentation.
- Provide clients with sample certificates of insurance for various services such as the following:
- Construction Agreements
- Transportation Contracts
- Use of Facility Forms
- Inter-Municipal Agreements
- Professional Consultant Contracts
- Student Services Contracts
- Assist the risk transfer process for facility users and/or transportation contractors as needed and contact carriers and/or insureds.
- Conduct and host Risk Transfer Seminars and Webinars
- Maintain and update sample risk transfer documents available for distribution.
- Promote and provide additional risk management services as appropriate.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in insurance or risk management preferred
- Legal Certification preferred
- NY State Licensed Insurance Broker preferred
- Knowledge and experience with operations of school districts and/or BOCES environments
- 5+ years of risk management/insurance experience preferred
- Excellent knowledge of computers in a window-based environment required.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to pay attention to details, good time-management skills, and organizational skills are necessary.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment to manage priorities of work, maintaining required production levels and ability to comply with accepted practices and guidelines.
- Meet expectations for attendance, punctuality, and ability to sit for extended periods of time.
- Some travel may be required

Hours: Full-time, EST
Compensation: $90,000 to $150,000
Location: Cortland, NY / Possible Remote
