Summary:

The Claim Recovery Analyst plays a key role in protecting the company’s legal subrogation rights and recovering funds from responsible third parties. This position supports the Claims Leadership team by reviewing commercial insurance claims, identifying recovery opportunities, and initiating appropriate actions to recover indemnity, expense, and other costs.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Legal & Statutory Application: Analyze claims and apply relevant laws, rules, and statutes to identify potential third-party recovery opportunities.
  2. Claims Review & Evaluation: Assist in the review of accident reports, claim files, medical records, and other documentation to determine recovery potential.
  3. Third-Party Communication: Notify and follow up with insurance carriers, attorneys, and other parties regarding the company’s subrogation interests.
  4. Demand Packet Preparation: Prepare and send subrogation demand packets with supporting documentation to responsible parties.
  5. Arbitration Support: Compile and organize documentation to support arbitration efforts and recovery negotiations.
  6. Asset Recovery: Assist in the disposition and recovery of company assets, including salvaged property.
  7. Case File Management: Maintain accurate and organized case files, correspondence, legal documents, and payment records related to recovery efforts.
  8. Investigation Coordination: Analyze case facts to ensure thorough investigation; coordinate with field personnel when additional information is needed.
  9. Insured Communication: Provide timely updates to insured parties regarding the status of recovery efforts, maintaining professional and effective communication.
  10. Internal Collaboration: Communicate regularly with the Recovery Specialist and Claims Leadership, utilizing data tools and personal assessments to report on recovery progress.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • High-school degree or equivalent, college degree or coursework preferred. 
  • Must hold or be able to obtain applicable state adjuster licenses by passing required exams.
  • Licensing must be completed within the timeframe outlined in the offer letter, as a condition of employment.
  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Able to lift and move items up to 25 lbs when needed.
  • Proficient in using a keyboard, mouse, and phone.
  • Able to communicate clearly by phone and in person.
  • Sufficient vision and hearing to perform computer and phone-based tasks.
  • The ability to succeed and excel in a collaborative and team-based environment.
  • Strong time management and desk management skills.  
  • Knowledge of and ability to operate efficiently in a Windows-based environment using Excel, Word and Outlook as well as company claim administration software.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignment to completion.
  • Ability to travel occasionally for work-related purposes, including meetings, training, or other business needs.
  • Must have reliable transportation and be able to travel independently as required.

Hours: Full-time
Compensation:
 $50,000-$70,000
Location: Cortland, NY/Remote
