HISTORY

McNeil & Company was formed in 1989 by Daniel F. McNeil and in 1990 began to provide insurance and risk management services to emergency service organizations from the company's original home office on Main Street in Cortland, New York. In 1992, with the Emergency Service Insurance Program (ESIP) growing at a rapid rate in New York State, the company opened a second office in Islandia, New York to better service its growing client list on Long Island and the urban metropolitan centers in the southeastern part of the state.

By 1994, business had expanded across the country, leading to a third office in Tacoma, Washington. That new location facilitated better service for the company's west coast clientele and provided additional marketing opportunities for that part of the country.

In 1997, McNeil & Company opened another office in York, Pennsylvania and launched Ambulance Services Insurance Program (ASIP), focusing on independent providers of medical transportation and services. During this period, continued growth prompted the company to design, build and relocate its home office to its current 15,000 square foot operations center at 20 Church Street in Cortland.

McNeil & Company has experienced continued growth over the years.  Additional programs and regional offices have been added allowing the company to provide enhanced products and services to specialized insurance and risk clients. Continued creation of new programs such as; FireWatch, designed for fire equipment distributors and fire suppression contractors; HOMed, created to insure the special needs of home medical equipment dealers; and WildPro, tailored to meet the needs of professional wildland fire fighting companies, ensure McNeil & Company's growth to the top of national insurance providers.
