Dan McNeil graduated from LeMoyne College in 1977 and began his insurance career in Florida. In 1978, Dan was appointed Director of Sales for the emergency services program with an independent agency in Boca Raton, Florida. During Dan's 2 ½ years in Florida, premium writings grew from $150,000 to $1.75 million for this program. Dan also attended the AETNA home office sales course, at the conclusion of which he received the blue ribbon for academic excellence and the gold ribbon for salesmanship. Finally, he completed the 5 part Certified Insurance Counselor Program, and to date remains a CIC in good standing.
In 1989, Dan started McNeil & Company Insurance and Risk Services in Cortland, New York, with the establishment of Emergency Services Insurance Program (ESIP). It was Dan's emphasis from the beginning to provide not just fine insurance products, but the risk management and service aspects to the individual clients. McNeil & Company now furnishes products to over 5700 clients throughout the United States and employs over 80 people.
Dan has contributed to the communities in which he has lived throughout his career. He has been a member of the United Way's Finance Committee, Executive Committee and Board of Directors. Dan is active in professional associations as well; at present he is Secretary of the National Volunteer Fire Council Foundation and serves as President of the Board of Directors of Fire Districts of New York Mutual Insurance Company. He is the author and co-author of several articles on Risk Management for emergency service organizations. Dan is a noted lecturer addressing a number of organizations including the International Association of Fire Chiefs and the Firemen's Association of the State of New York.
