Helpful Information

Earlier this year we did some articles on finding assistance on the Internet. We were able to point out some websites which contained valuable information for fire service leaders and trainers with a wealth of information. The response to these articles was overwhelming.

With that in mind, we would like to point out an excellent source of information for the fire service trainer, TRADENET. TRADENET is a weekly electronic newsletter which is a sponsored activity of the National Fire Academy. The objective of TRADENET is to provide a forum for members of fire service organizations to maximize performance through quick and easy information sharing. The newsletter currently has over 6100 subscribers.

Members e-mail questions regarding training issues. Other members are then able to respond with their own successes or failures related to that particular subject. Training officers have been able to obtain existing power point presentations for particular subjects as well as information on where to obtain specific data on a project they may be working on.

In addition, the TRADE Virtual TRADEing Post is also available online. The site allows users to see an index of each of the CD's available for download. The intent of TRADE is to share information that will allow the Fire Service not to reinvent the wheel each and every time they need something.

The website for the TRADEing Post is http://feti.lsu.edu/municipal/NFA/TRADE/

In order to subscribe to the TRADENET newsletter, go to: http://www.usfa.dhs.gov/about/subscribe/ and select "Subscribe to TRADENET".
